Dynamic Defense, Control, and Combatives
This course delivers a practical, dynamic system for personal and professional self-defense, subject control, and combative engagement. Participants learn integrated techniques to create safety under pressure, defend against physical threats, control and restrain suspects, disarm weapons when appropriate, apply handcuffing procedures, and elevate overall situational awareness and personal safety decision-making.
Learning Objectives
- Apply dynamic defensive movement and positioning to create distance, angles, and safety against common physical threats.
- Execute effective subject-control techniques that allow safe management of non-compliant or resistive individuals.
- Integrate combative skills to neutralize immediate threats while maintaining legal and tactical soundness.
- Demonstrate weapon-disarm methods and transitions to control when faced with edged, impact, or firearm threats (as appropriate to the environment and authority level).
- Perform proper handcuffing and restraint application under realistic conditions, emphasizing safety for both the officer/protector and the subject.
- Strengthen threat recognition, situational awareness, and personal safety decision-making to reduce risk before, during, and after physical encounters.
Equipment:
- Long pants, close toed shoes, collared shirt – durable clothes that you can fight in.
- Duty belt / retention holster – and your pistol (no red gun needed)
- Handcuffs & handcuff key
- BRING A LUNCH – WE WILL NOT LEAVE THE TRAINING AREA FOR LUNCH for safety reasons.
