Tactical Search and Rescue / Recovery

Tactical and First Responder Search and Rescue / Recovery Operations

These courses are by request and built to your organization or team needs. This skillset and competency are critical for tactical personnel and first responders who are be tasked with these duties.

The Soteria Defense Tactical Search and Rescue / Recovery Operations program includes specialized training and operational assistance. Search and rescue operations are typically conducted by seasoned and well-qualified professionals. First responders and tactical personnel are often directly involved or assist by providing security and resources depending on the nature and size of the operations. Operations may range from finding lost hikers to responding to SOS notifications, or locating escapees or victims of crime. In some situations search and rescue professionals accompanied by security personnel for their safety. Accompanying personnel should have familiarity and be able to operate safely in rugged outdoor environments. In situations involving a potential for violent interactions tactical personnel and first responders may need to take point in these operations and be assisted by search and rescue professionals.

It is critical your personnel and team are trained in these types of operations and environments before engaging in operations. It is important to remember that you are being sent to rescue someone who has already succumbed to the conditions you are entering, or that whomever or whatever you are attempting to locate is adverse to your efforts. When your operation is far from typical safety and survival mechanisms (water, food, shelter, warmth, supplies, support), if your personnel are not prepared they are at risk.

There are various ways these programs are implemented and include a range of skillsets from basic to advanced. Basic skillsets include equipment selection, packing, use, map and GPS reading, land navigation in rugged environments, and rescue techniques. Advances skillsets include safety in hazardous environments, extreme cold weather safety, rope and high angle rescue, rappelling, and more.

Our cadre has extensive training and experience within a broad range of search and rescue, outdoor wilderness and outdoor wilderness first aid, trauma medicine, SCUBA and rescue diver, tactical emergency medical management, rescue task force, and more.
